In 2013 I started working online, helping newcomers to find their feet in their new lands across the globe. When we faced the lockdowns a few years ago, I could help my team to embrace the technology that enabled us to continue delivering our project online.
As we could return to the "normal routine", the hybrid space was an option. Some of us preferred to be in the office; others chose a hybrid or even 100% remote option. Our team leader was pretty good at accommodating our choices. Still, I can't say the same about other leaders in the organisation.
Nowadays, I run my business 100% remotely and take the time to network face-to-face (locally) and also online. I found what works for me, and I continue to foster genuine communication with my teams; yes, I am working with three teams in two different countries and knowing how to collaborate remotely helps us to stay engaged, connected and supportive.
